Warangal Fort

Warangal Fort, one of the famous attractions of Warangal, is located at a distance of 4 Km from Warangal railway station in this ancient city of Andhra Pradesh.

Description: Recognized as one of the heritage sites, Warangal Fort was built in the 13th century by the Kakatiyas. Later, between 15th and 17th century, a few modifications were made, including the creation of gates in the outer earthen wall and addition of barbicans to four gates. Although, the fort is not there anymore, its remains are arranged in accordance to its original existence. Similar in design and structure, four Kerti Torana made up of granite can be seen at the Fort, a few distances apart from each other. A gun powder room can be witnessed close to Torana. Lord Shiva’s and Balaji’s temples exist in the proximity of the Fort. The intricately carved structure of the Fort beautifully reflects the art of those times. A large number of tourists visit the Warangal Fort from neighboring cities of Warangal, like Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and different parts of the world. A trip to Warangal might not be complete without a visit to this historical place.
